Caring for your skin and respecting the planet that we share
are what inspire us to continue creating products primarily formulated with
biodegradable ingredients. Because, together, we care of your skin and the planet.
In order to offer you products that care for and respect our planet, in ISDIN we formulate our sunscreens
to minimize their impact over the environment, especially in the marine environment
We know that you want to take care of your skin and the planet at the same time. That’s why our SEA FRIENDLY formulas have been created to minimize their impact on the sea, containing mostly biodegradable and inorganic ingredients.
Algae are a key part of healthy marine ecosystems. They capture and use carbon dioxide, water, and energy from the sun to produce organic compounds that help maintain balance and life in marine ecosystems. Preserving them ensures a sea that is healthy and full of life.
This is why all of our SEA FRIENDLY formulas have been scientifically tested in accordance with the highest international standards*. When you use ISDIN SEA FRIENDLY suncare products, rest assure they don’t harm microalgae and that you are helping preserve our seas and oceans.

“With ISDIN, we are advancing in our research about the decomposition of plastics in the ocean."" Cristina Romera-Castillo, PhD"”.
ISDIN collaborates with the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC), specifically by supporting the
COLPLAI project* led by Dr. Cristina Romera, a researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences (Institut de Ciències del Mar) in Barcelona.
This project contributes to research on the quantification and characterization of organic matter released from plastics and its effects on marine microbes.
*Characterization of Dissolved Organic Matter Leached from Plastics into seawater and its impact on marine microbes
This is our aim and, thanks to you, a portion of our profit goes to supporting actions geared towards raising awareness and cleaning beaches with organizations such as Ambiente Europeo. Every day we are one step closer to stopping plastic waste from harming our beaches and the ocean.
“The oceans give us everything. Without them, there would be no life on our planet. They provide us with food and the oxygen we breathe. They regulate the climate. We have life because we have water. Our own life began with a nine-month immersion in the womb.
We're now warming the oceans with climate change. Changing its chemical composition with the amounts of CO2 we emit. And we’re draining them after decades of fishing without limits. But we can fix what we’ve done wrong. We know what needs to be done and there’s still time.
Those of us who are aware of this have an obligation to act. It’s time to get involved and not just sit back and wait for others to solve it. The health of the oceans is the health of the planet.”

“The more you know , the more you love , and the more you love , the more you take care. And the same thing happens with the ocean and nature. And feeling hypocritical in that process can be a good thing because it means that we aren’t comfortable with what we’re doing, and it will lead us to take action.”

“I’ve been sailing around the world on sailboats for more than 40 years, and it saddens me to see how we are destroying our natural environment. That is why both my son, Yago, and I are committed to giving the sea the care it deserves for all that it has given us.”
Santiago Lange
Sailing Olympic Medallist and ISDIN Ambassador
“I’m proud to be an ambassador for a brand like ISDIN, which has been so committed from the start to raising awareness of the importance of caring for not only our skin but also the sea, thanks to all its initiatives.”
Sofía Gómez
APNEA World Champion and ISDIN Ambassador
“Promoting the protection of biodiversity is a goal we all share. Let’s clean and protect our oceans. The sea belongs to everyone.”
Ona Carbonell
Synchronized Swimming Olympic Champion and ISDIN Ambassador
“The ocean is much more than what we see at first sight. The energy we feel every time we enter the sea is because of the life it harbors. It has always been there for us, and it needs our help now more than ever. Let’s protect it.”
