recommended sunscreens:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-it-s-broad-spectrum\">1. It\u2019s broad spectrum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First things first, what&nbsp;<em>is<\/em>&nbsp;broad protection sunscreen? It\u2019s the only kind of sunscreen recommended in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aad.org\/\">The American Academy of Dermatology<\/a>\u2019s (AAD) guidelines on sunscreen, and with good reason: it&nbsp;<strong>protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.isdin.com\/en-US\/blog\/skincare\/ultraviolet-radiation-and-your-skin\/\">solar radiation<\/a>&nbsp;that reaches us every day is made up of different rays, which affect our skin in different ways. UVA rays are largely responsible for premature skin aging, so they provoke changes in the skin, such as the appearance of wrinkles and sun spots. UVB rays are sometimes called <em>burning<\/em> rays, as they\u2019re the culprit behind sunburn and tanning in your skin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both types of rays can contribute to the risk of developing skin cancer. So, for the best all-over protection, <strong>be sure to choose broad spectrum sunscreens.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#d6a2425e\">\u2600\ufe0f <a data-l-s=\"53434\" href=\"https:\/\/www.isdin.com\/en-US\/uv-index\/\">Check your local UV index now<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-the-higher-the-spf-the-better\">2. The higher the SPF, the better<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest misconceptions about sunscreen is that if you have skin of color, you don\u2019t need to be using a high SPF. But, the AAD recommends that <strong>everyone uses an SPF of at least 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPF, or sun protection factor, is a measurement of the amount of time that your sunscreen will help protect your skin from solar radiation. It\u2019s really important to&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isdin.com\/en-US\/blog\/skincare\/how-to-properly-apply-sunscreen\/\">apply sunscreen<\/a>&nbsp;<em>exactly<\/em>&nbsp;as it says on the label<\/strong> as this is the way the sunscreen has been tested. So to get the same level of protection, you need to apply following the instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Skin-boosting ingredients are included<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To get the maximum benefit from your sunscreen, look for one with <strong>additional ingredients that boost overall skin health<\/strong>. The most advanced formulations now help care for your skin in other ways, adding peptides to help target signs of premature skin aging, and antioxidants, for extra protection against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isdin.com\/en-US\/blog\/skincare\/what-are-free-radicals-how-do-they-affect-skin\/\">oxidative skin damage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isdin.com\/en-US\/sun-care\/ultralight-emulsion-sunscreen-spf-50-eryfotona-actinica-8429420149335.html\">Eryfotona Actinica<\/a> to my patients for its unique enzyme called DNA Repairsomes\u00ae,\u201d says Dr. Park.
