As of September 26, 2006 a recommendation exists from the European Commission relative to the efficiency of solar protection products and the statements about them.
The high category corresponds to sunscreens with a SPF from 30 to 59.
This category includes sunscreens specially indicated for the protection of skins that are sensitive to the sun, and Phototypes II-III-IV.
- Skin alterations owing to the sun
- Hyper and hypopigmentation (chloasma, melasma, lentigo, vitiligo)
- Photosensitivity due to certain medication
- Premature ageing of the skin
- Intense exposure conditions
